does anybody have both a backcountry boiler and a bushbuddy, and can they be used together, with the boiler set on top of the bushbuddy, foregoing the fire-base that comes with the backcountry boiler? (the dimensions would suggest it's possible).

or thinking about it more, could the boiler fire-base sit on the top lip of the bushbuddy for use as an alcohol/esbit stove.

(i've ordered a backcountry boiler and i'm wondering about getting a bushbuddy to pair with it)

I only have the backcountry boiler so, no I haven't. Seems unnecessarily heavy to bring both. What benefit to you perceive from using both together?

the boiler doesn't seem to lend itself to frying.

for me, if they could be used together, perhaps with the b.buddy making the b.boiler even more efficient. the increased versatility of baking and frying with the b.buddy, as well as having an additional stove (and we're talking ~5oz here) for a "larger" group of 2-3 people, at no additional fuel penalty seems more than justified. especially when the alternative would be a companion bringing along a jetboil.

The base of the Backcountry Boiler and the rim of the BushBuddy are about the same, so it could be a tight fit or I suspect the Bushbuddy may be just a mm or so wider.
(I have the Boiler not the other)
I would think that you will get a faster boil that way (if they match) but would not bother if too snug because the two metals may expand at a different rate when hot .
So if they do fit do some tests on a very controlled environment first.

My backcountry boiler exactly fits on top of the QiWiz Firefly, if this helps. I don't know about the BushBuddy, never seen one.

If you put a mini bunt pan on top of the boiler you could do multiple courses.
