Has anyone made a DIY carbon felt alcohol wick similar to the "FireFelt" made by Boilerwerks?
Firefelt

It looks to me like a long strip of carbon felt folded over like a taco and held together by a staple every inch or two. Is there anything more to this that I'm missing?

If not, can anyone direct me to the cheapest source of carbon felt that I could use for a simple project like this? Or better yet, if anyone has a bit of carbon felt laying around that you can spare, I'll take it off your hands for a few bucks and the cost of postage.

On the internet, I've only been able to find very small pieces of carbon felt for >$12, or very large pieces for around $20. No small and cheap pieces though. I'd rather not pay $9 + $3 shipping for the FireFelt when this item seems so easy to DIY this kind of item.

Thanks for any help!

I can hook you up with a piece large enough.

PM me your address and I'll get it to you.
