So Thermarest products are 25% off.

I am happy with my GG torso- length foam pad , but…..
……there is the allure of trying the NeoAir XLite small pad, which weighs 8 oz.

So what say other XLite users? Is it worth the money and weight? Or should I resist the evil siren song tempting me to "sale " upon the rocks and swipe my credit card….?

If you are happy with your current pad, why not spend the money on something you are not happy with or do not have? :)

I find that I don't like air pads in torso lengths due to the dropoff caused by their thickness compared to closed cell or even self inflatable open cell, although I have used an xlite and it is thin for an air pad. But…I seem to be more sensitive to this kind of thing than others.

Well, I like the phrase!

Not convinced about the NeoAir mats, but that's another story.

Cheers

I tried the NeoAir XLite in the regular length. It's very light & packs up small. But I found the crackling/crinkling sound every time I moved to be the deal breaker. Used it one night, didn't get much sleep, and ended up exchanging it at REI for an Exped DownMat Lite 5.

I bought the women's Neo xlite 66" pad for their sale price and the crinkle doesn't bother me 'cuz my snoring is louder!!
YMMV !!

Susan,

Go for it!
for the simple reason that, here on BPL, there is a strangely accepted custom of people asking, and others willing to pay, nearly 99% of retail for pre-owned gear!
Meaning, you could easily recoup.
LMAO.

Having read several threads on the XLite, I think the prevailing wisdom here is that some people love it and others hate it. For some the noise is no issue at all, for others the noise apparently not only keeps them awake but everyone in nearby tents as well. Comes down to YOU actually trying it to see if it works for YOU — with such divergent opinions you shouldn't rely on anyone else's thoughts. With REI's return policy you don't have any real downside risk to buying it and trying it.
