Velcro to attach your pad to your tent floor?

I've been velcroing my 1/8" GG thinlight pads to the bottom of my NeoAir pad to help with abrasion/punctures as well as boost the R value (marginally). But even my cut-down GG pad weighs close to 2 oz.

I was wondering if anyone has tried simply placing velcro strips directly on your tent floor to help with slippage. I'm eager to try it, but first I want to know if said strips will be a pain to remove at some future date. Any idea what solvent would help remove glue reside from silnylon or cuben fiber? (Don't have any cuben fiber floor tents, but may get one of Joe's in the near future).

If you bond your pad to the floor you run the risk of stressing the floor-to-wall seam.

Sliding across the floor is nature's way of reminding you to pick a level camp site.

Repairing tent seams is nature's way of reminding you that brute force isn't always the best approach.

mix up diluted silicone in mineral spirits, and put some non slip dots on the bottom of your sleeping pad, or paint some non slip stripes across the tent floor. Thats the way its usually handled. I wouldnt personally want to velcro my pad in place.

To reduce slippage painting stripes/dots on both the bottom of your mat and the tent floor works best, but as Greg pointed out a solid bond is not a good idea .

I've have good luck with seam sealer dots on the tent floor and stripes on my pad. My neoair doesn't move around near as much as my ridgerest though.

and you dont need to worry about slipping on cuben fiber. Its not real slippery.

I would try it no sweat. Goof off or a hair dryer would remove the glue later on. You are going to have to really thrash in your sleep to stress a seam(if at all).

Silicone dots will be lighter than strips of velcro. Look better too. You know with the velcro you will get stuff stuck in and around it. Then the corner will peel up. Then the whole thing is a mess.
