Did you mod it in addition to sil coating?

I have The One and have used it off and on over the past four years. It is a fantastic shelter. It was noisy at first but quickly quieted down after a couple of outings. I have never had any issues with leaking and the price was more affordable than Cuben at the time. I would love to see GG re-release the design in Cuben someday.

"Announcements of online & local sales, coupons, etc. Commercial posts OK, but ONLY if you are announcing a sale or coupon."

"Commercial Postings: Any postings regarding commercial deals or product announcements should be posted in the Gear Deals forum only, and must include a full disclosure of any vested interest the poster may have in the product."

"Do not post chain letters, spam, advertisements (except for commercial postings that are specifically allowed in selected forums), or other types of junk."

Roger,

I guess I don't understand why the eBay link was removed as there are some members who may be interested in the shelter, it's relevant to backpacking light, and I'm not sure where else it would be posted in this situation. I know I have posted discounted gear I've found on Gear Trader as I've found it and have received PMs from members who were appreciative of finding the deal. If this is wrong then I'll stop.

I've posted all of the guidance I can find on the topic. It seems that the "Gear Deals" forum rules need more attention and should be communicated better.

I actually wish people wouldnt take it upon themselves to alert users here to things on ebay.

In all likelihood, someone here is already watching said item and hoping to get a good price. Taking it upon oneself to announce it to everyone possibly screws them.

Hi Ian

> I don't understand why the eBay link was removed
Nothing to do with you actually. It's just that at times we have lots of trouble with spammers (remember the shoe spammers?), and we simply ban all eBay URLs – and Craigslist URLs, etc. It's a simple rule which is very easy to enforce, even if there are times when the specific URL is fairly harmless. You might like to note the relative absence of spammers these days. That was not easy.

You are doubtless correct. I won't argue.

Thanks for the explanation Roger. I think the spamming was before I joined so I didn't understand but do now.

Have a nice weekend.

Yes I modded my SpinnTwinn tarp by adding no-see-um netting underneath, ala Hexamid, with an "L" shaped zipper in the front. I added a Hyperlight Mountain Gear Cuben beak. I would guess that additional silicone that I have added to the SpinnTwinn may have added a little under an ounce. I also added dyneema lines which saved a little weight over the original.

Hi Ian

> I think the spamming was before I joined
Would you believe I was deleting up to 50 spams a day at one stage? !@#$%^&*
We solved most of that with the $5 charge for Forum membership. The spammers are NOT into paying out money.

Cheers

The buyer may have been unaware of spinnaker deficiencies as described in this thread.
