2006 was the last year that I frequented BPL. So I am now back and living in the Philippines. The better half is ill and I have spent the entire weekend trying to provide care and support (I think she got it from me) and realized that I really do not like living in Manila. We have unbelievable traffic, smog, did I mention the air quality is horrendous, crowding, relentless noise, and ……….. I could go on and on but I am sure you get the picture.

So, if anyone here can provide me some guidance on hiking and backpacking in the Philippines it would be greatly appreciated. Of course I worry about security and there are some areas that I would never venture into even if I was armed like I was in the US Army! But there are some very pretty areas here and they say things are more fun in the Philippines. That may be true outside of Manila!Jeepney Transportation

This forum is for web site problems, other admin issues, etc.

Should be in Pre-Trip Planning or elsewhere.

"This forum is for web site problems, other admin issues, etc"

Then is should be named Admin.

I am not a resident or expert on the Philippines (although my father is Filipino), but I have done a fair share of traveling and hiking there. If you haven’t gotten out of Manila yet, then you’re definitely missing out on a lot of the best of the Philippines. Even the people outside the big city are invariably some of the friendliest and most hospitable in the world.

Here is a good introduction to hiking in the Philippines

And a hiking organization, Pinoy Mountaineer. Scroll down for, “Best Hikes For Beginners Near Manila”.

Think back. Do you remember that this forum was once called Forum Admin. and Support?

Those were the days.
