I'm in SLC for the week. Anyone have any recommendations for a local gear shop to check out? I can hit REI anywhere. Looking for someplace with local character. Even better if they specialize in UL. Thanks in advance!

Stumbled across this feature the other day. I have no idea how current or accurate it is.
Hey critter there are a couple of alternatives to rei but I would not say that they are geared to light weight. One would be Kirkhams on state street and about 3300 south. The other I don't remember the name but they are geared more towards climbing gear, but I did buy my Western Mountain sleeping bag and Mont Bell down jacket from them. They are located in the same building as REI but just around the corner. REI is located on 3300 South and about 2000 East. Hope this helps

Isn't there one right across the street from Kirkham's? I can't remember the name. They have some very good prices.
