Interesting thread I stumbled upon. I spent 5 nights in the canyon several years ago in March (Spring break) starting at Hermits and our group of 3 never thought much about critters. In fact we never saw any. The only annoying pest were some flies especially down near the river. Maybe it was the time of year.
