I am a down junkie. I sleep under a down bag most every night, i wear an UL down vest all day at home whilst working, and when I step out i grab a puffy, half the year anyway.

Thanks to a post on gear deals I discovered the Sierra Designs Gnar Hoody, which incorporates Thumb Loops. This is something I never thought much of, and from casual observation around town, these seemed to me a "chick thang"
That is until i TRIED THEM!

I am surprised to say the least how impressed I am. The covering of half of the palm of the hand, and half the back, is a highly useful innovation. Around town it virtually eliminates my need for gloves. I predict this feature will become much more common. SD seems 2b the only mfr doing it on a puffy. Further, their use is Optional – ya use em or not.

Has anyone else had this Revelation?

(Also, the Gnar [size L, black, 12 oz.] doesnt fit me well enuf; it is for sale on Swap and I am getting an XL).

I've owned many casual hoodies with thumb loops and I use the loops quite a bit. I like them, there is really no reason not to include them imo.

I recently picked up a MHW Nilas, which has pretty well designed thumb loops. They pair up really well with the thumb loops on my R1 hoody. I'm a big fan of thumb loops on tops. They add a significant amount of warmth to the garment when worn on its own, seal out the cold when wearing gloves, and make putting on layers quick and easy.

I like them on a mid layer, but if in wearing a puffy, I'm wearing gloves. The bulk would get me on a puffy I think. I have been known to pull shell sleeves down to cover my hands.
