Hard to believe it was a year ago that I was getting my first pictures.
'twas the year of the Kat!
I'm imagining the cat in the last three pictures purring "You lookin at ME?" … those eyes boring are right through us!

I'd say it looks more like Peter Lorre contemplating a crime…
I still suggest to scatter some dry catnip about ten feet in front of the camera.

Lots more pictures, none of them anything that special.
These two, part of a series, are pretty cool because of the eyes, I think

I'm impressed with how well the camera picks them up at night. Cool pics, gorgeous creatures.
I realize that infrared light is about the only practical lighting solution for night, but it is too bad that it makes the mountain lions look so ghostly. In daylight, they are nice looking animals.

maybe that's the one that bit Daryl, caused infection : )
They are beautiful animals, I agree.
While I am most excited to get daytime photos, I still find some of the night time captures interesting in their own way.
I have several more pictures from the last few days, but none are that special.
What is cool to me is how many animals have travelled this trail over the last couple of months. I am posting a sample of what has walked by here lately. I am leaving out hundreds of pictures of cats, foxes, deer, bobcats, quail, jays, a variety of other birds and rabbits.
I just cleared the trail this morning and got the last few pictures of this series. You can see the ocean in the background.

Lots of fox and bobcat pictures lately. Here are a few:

I like this series :)

With a bird

A fox with……? Not sure.

And my buddy that comes with me no matter what.

And that's the two of us. We had walked up to the camera that took this picture, checked it and walked back down, to find a steaming fresh mountain lion poop on the narrowest part of the trail. It was not there a few minutes earlier. Turns out there was a kill just a bit to our left there, maybe 20 yards down the hill, in the poison oak and ticks. I did not investigate that day, nor for a few days after.
A week later Spotty ran down there and came back with a leg, all proud of himself.
Looks like the fox got my kids' stuffed dinosaur.
Great shots!
Kathrina, I think your trailcam pics are about the coolest thing I've seen at BPL.
I don't know if you're aware of the recent jaguar photos from the Santa Rita Mountains south of Tucson. Jaguars hadn't been seen in Arizona for decades, but trail cams started recording them a few years ago. Great News! I hike there sometimes because Mt Wrightson has the 2nd highest vertical gradient in AZ (outside GC NP). I've never seen a mountain lion on the trail, but I think a jaguar would make my heart skip even more.
This is one of the actual Santa Rita pics.

Thanks Monte.
I did not know about the Jaguars and I agree about not wanting to meet one on the trail!
This guy though….It would not be the same without him.

I hope to catch a kitty in that very spot soon :)

This spot, with this lighting…pretty sweet. Can't wait for other critters to visit here.
Excellent! I love watching these oh-so-social birds!
Lots of mediocre night time photos of all kinds of animals this last week. Three different mountain lions all heading up to the ridge. Got a very nice video of a mountain lion sitting on front of the camera scratching an itch, but can't post that here. Those that know my Vimeo link can see it there as well as a some other kitty footage.
A couple of days ago I posted a picture of my dog in a new camera spot; first kitty to show up.

This is a smaller bobcat than the one above walking into the sunset.

Bobcats just love a trail with a great view! ;)
Great photos! The cat seems very focused on getting somewhere.
Different cat than my last post. Same cat that was heading into the sunset.
By the way, I am still getting mountain lions every week, just nothing that special to post. Mostly night time.

(Sniff) And all I get is a shot of my neighbor's cat.

–B.G.–
That cat needs to go on a Paleo diet.
:)
Love the bobcat pics. Fluffy little murderers.

I have dedicated some of my camera to places where I have to wait a little longer but when I get a shot, it has a view….So far the visitors have been mainly bobcats and birds.
Other cameras in more popular spots are getting the many night time, grainy pictures.
The best bobcat shots so far I already posted.
Here are a couple more:

Some mountain lion ones

A western scrub jay in a good location

And my photo on the website of the number one retailer for trail cameras :)

Those bobcat pics look just like my kitty cats, prowling around.
Nice your mountain lion picture is headlined. That's a really nice pic.
$130 for a camera? That's pretty cheap. I better get one…
