After 8 days on trail with 2 days in rain, no funk, a first.
Here’s a new trick I came up with that seemed to significantly help. After washing the socks, soak in a light soap/filtered water solution and wring out but don’t rinse. Let dry. Soap is naturally antibacterial, so should help inhibit the stinky bacterial growth. My socks were flirting with funk on day 4 but this killed it in its tracks. I never noticed any difference in wearability.
Other stuff:
– beforehand: exfoliate, wash feet nightly with antibacterial soap, pre spray boots with 50/50 water vinegar, use wool based socks
– on trail: clean feet nightly (Swedish cloth), wash socks in soapy filtered water, rinse in filtered water.
The Dragon is slayed!
