I picked this up a little while ago for $26 shipped. My Mora of 3 or 4 years has rusted out a bit (my fault, I used it on a boat and forgot to rinse the saltwater), so it was time for a new chore knife. I'm really impressed. For the money, it's got to be one of the best values out there. It's a scandi grind, though the edge looks to have a really slight convex to it…which is fine as sharpening with sandpaper on a mousepad is easy. Full tang, blade is at least 1/8" thick. A very sturdy little chopper. I've used it for a week, carved two sets of chopsticks, started a spoon, and prepped plenty of food. Shaving sharp. Walnut handles. Comes with a decent quality leather sheath.

It looks large in the picture, but the blade is only 3". It's basically a three finger grip if your hands are large. I especially like it because it doesn't look too tactical to use when chopping fruit at lunch at work or out and about- like a small kitchen knife. Thought I'd pass it along…

Stainless or carbon? I see, it's carbon. Good find Craig. $27 and change on Amazon.

How is the sheath? It doesnt look like it is very secure, I wouldnt want that getting loose inside my cuben pack… I like folders but I like the looks of this one, how much does it weigh?

Carbon steel has both advantages and disadvantages. It sharpens easily. It's also more prone to micro corrosion, thus dulling the edge more quickly. Same with saber grind. Makes for a stouter blade, at the cost of slicing ability. Knives are bundles of compromises, and its great when you find one that meets your needs.

It looks like a nice knife, but since it's also carbon i don't see the point in getting this over another Mora knife which is a lot cheaper (half the price). Beyond aesthetics that is.

I bought a Condor knife and found it very crude in fit and finish. As heavy as they are, I too would recommend a Mora. I just bought the Lite My Fire version with the firesteel tucked in the handle. It is more than enough knife for food prep and general repairs on the trail.

I wouldn't dream of using a carbon steel knife around salt water. Carbon steel can be honed to a scary sharp edge, but as the OP found, forget to clean and oil it once and the damage is done.

For a good non-tactical knife around town, the Victorinox One Hand Trekker is a great alternative and IMHO, the best all-round folding trail knife/multi-tool. I wish I could get Victorinox to leave off the bottle opener and Philips and add scissors. With the thick locking blade, wood saw and awl, it can tackle a lot, but it won't scare the help :)
