Any idea with who Montbell developed Breeze Dry Tec? Toray? Something I've been thinking about for a while now. Some of the other coatings of Montbell could perhaps be traced to some of the Toray products (Superhydrobreeze to Entrant (G2 or G2XT)?, Dry lite tec to entrant DT ?) en they're both Japanese.
If comparing the pictures on the Toray website for Dermizax MP (a microporous dermizax, not the usual hydrophilic dermizax) with the picture of Montbell for Breeze Drytec, they llok very similar. One of the pictures is upside down and cut a bit smaller but both seem to have the same few odd shaped pores.

Strange also how Toray shows higher MVTR for hydrophilic laminats than for microporous coatings. There is even one, which isn't mentioned on the Toraysite, Dermizax ZR, which is supposed to have an MVTR of 38.000 which is even much higher than eVENT (but what test and how relevant are these numbers for real life performance and comfort).

On the eVENT site, I recently noticed that a Canadian company, dubbed the new Arc'teryx, is goind to release eVENT smock and jacket, both 10 oz. or less (or supposed to be). Full hood, chest pocket, two inside pockets for the jacket, apparantly no pit zips (what a shame).

"And it's cheaper than the Integral Designs jacket, and has the pit zips the ID does not (for an extra ounce penalty)."

Sadly MB jackets sold in Japan do not have pit zips – these were only added for the US market and account for the weight difference between the domestic and foreign jackets.

But not all is lost – they occasionally have the US gear in the outlet store at Ebisu (above the store outside the East entrance).
