I like Moosejaw's marketing, it makes me laugh. So I bought OR pants from their site.
I was paying with Paypal, and the employee told me to go ahead and place the order, and he'd price match my $90 to $50 for me (OR was selling them on Amazon for that much).
I needed them for Wednesday, so I selected 2-day Fed Ex shipping for $22 last Friday, at around 3 in the afternoon.
Moosejaw charged me the full $113, then refunded me the $39 three days later, which is now tied up in Paypal with an indefinite hold. Ok. I don't know why they couldn't just charge me a lower cost initially…
Then, I checked the shipping status of the order and as of today, it still hasn't shipped at all. I contacted Moosejaw and they told me "You misread the site. That's the date we're shipping the item." So I paid $22 for 2-day shipping so they could take 4 days just to ship it. I asked for an expected delivery date. They said "We don't do delivery dates, and I can't find it so I'll send it to our 'special orders' team."
So here I am, out $61 dollars until who-knows-when, with pants that won't ship. I should have gone directly to OR, or to Amazon, or to backcountry, etc…
I feel like, in 2013, "Shipping" should mean "When does it get to my house?" Just because of the bureaucratic hassle, Moosejaw is not getting my business again.
