I went to a FIT store last night with some friends to browse around and found some intresting items.

I got some nice small bottles that would be good for sauce or spices or sunscreen etc. and are quite light.

Small bottles. The largest holds 1/2 oz and weighs .09 oz empty.

I also bought some tea sachets that will be nice for loose leaf tea and coffee. .01oz each.

There were some items I didn't buy but had ultralight potential:

Spork with actual tines. Apparently multi-use as self-defense weapon.

Ultralight foam sun visor

And then there was this…

Men's disposable panties.

I... umm.... uhhh...

These small bottles are often used for soy sauce bottle in bento box.

"These small bottles are often used for soy sauce bottle in bento box."

They seem to have a reliable seal as long as the cap is fully tightened. And you can see how much is left in the bottle. I'd probably still rely on an eye dropper bottle for DEET though.

I tried those bottles several years ago but did not find them reliable.

Stephen,

I don't know well about chemical.
I can say the letters "PE" on the bottles means "polyethylene" in Japan.

Yes, PE means polyethylene here as well, which is good for the bottle, but I don't know what the cap is made of.

Thanks!

Have you ever opened your bento box and found that your soy sauce had leaked out?

eventually the plastic will break down from being squeezed too much. but they are really good for mini kits, they sell them all over the place in hawaii. i've seen eye dropper bottles break down and crack also.

Those little bottles work OK as long as you keep them relatively full and you don't take them over a huge altitude increase. However, if you have a big air bubble in one and take it up over a few thousands of feet of elevation, the bubble will squeeze liquid through the cap seal.

I'm a little off on my poetry. Is that a panty haiku?

I wish we had a Japanese store. That looks fun.

"Is that a panty haiku?"

Nah, that would be 5-7-5 syllables, such as:

Bare my covered loins
I am not disposable
But my panties are

Very deep, Doug. I am still slowing understanding your meaning.

Now we're talking! I was surprised that the panty subject hadn't received more attention yet.

Doug, great haiku! It made me feel so vulnerable and exposed, yet eager at the same time!

Only on BPL would folks respond to the OPs photos with a discussion of small bottles.

But back to panty haiku:

Japanese panties
One touch could make it happen
Don't throw me away
