Today I had a chance meeting with a woman who lives just a few blocks away…whose late husband invented the first modern zipper repair kit [there are many copycats] about 21 years ago.

Most zipper problems are easily solved with a simple replacement of the slider. How many of us have shipped an item back to the mfr, simply due 2 the fact that we have no experience w/ zipper repair? For $10 their "Outdoor Kit" is ideal for our packs, bags, tents etc.

I just thought our community ought to know about it! Their site is Zipper Rescue dot com.

It is such a simple no-brainer, as the more miles you hike, the more likelihood of grumpy zippers.

Ask for a "BPL discount".

I receive no kickback etc but I may get some seamstress work out of it if I'm lucky.

I agree. After thinking I was going to have to have the zipper removed and a new zipper sewed on, I did my googling and found that in most cases it was just a pinch with the needle-nose players was all it took.

I had to replace the zipper pull itself a few times when it was too warn for the needle-nose pinch to work, but I've never had to replace the zipper itself.
