Reflective (space all weather blanket) ground sheet vs polycro

So, my girlfriend and I have been using a Space All Weather Blanket cut down to size as our ground sheet (tarp-like emergency blanket) for awhile. Never liked not having a groundsheet to protect the tent floor so that's not an option.

However. I've been wondering if it's even worth the weight (at 7oz, cut down from a full 12oz blanket) vs a regular polycro ground sheet.

Is the reflected heat even noticeable? Or will conductive heat loss negate whatever body heat the blanket reflects back up (probably very little since heat rises from our body anyways)? I don't know if I'd be able to tell the difference, honestly.

If the added warmth is negligible, I'll probably just buy some polycro and cut some ground sheets out of that.

What do you guys think?

Some background info:
Live/backpack in the PNW.
In the summer we use our Klymit Static-V, I supplement mine with a 1/8" Insulite ccf pad (also used as part of my backpack frame), girlfriend uses her Marmot Helium (now called Xenon) 15* bag year round, with the down shifted to the bottom during summer and even/top heavy distribution in early/late winter, where we use BA IAC pads (R 4.2). We've been using a BA Fly Creek UL 2, but have ordered a TarpTent Double Rainbow to replace it.

Since you are intending on using it underneath your system, it won't add any "R-value" to your system (at least that you could measure.) Therefore, I'd stick with the polycro.

There is a recent thread on its use over top a sleeping bag:

Fwiw, I tend to use Reflectix under my tent, but only because I have a ton of it at home and it is comfy under my knees when crawling around. I have used it to protect my neo-rest, and I would notice extra "warmth" when I sit directly on it. This "effect" is entirely mitigated when I am sitting on my air mattress, since my radiant energy is now being absorbed by my mattress.

yeah, like Matt said, you need an air space for it to make any difference or conduction will kill any effectiveness

I used a bivy for years that had a bottom of half reflective material, nylon, and I never felt it made any difference.

Thanks for the input, guys! I'll make some polycro groundsheets once the Double Rainbow arrives. Should shave several ounces off. :o)
