Any thoughts on these? –

(And any others I should consider?)

Goals (for use with GigaPower stove, in good weather):
— light (of course)
— large enough to boil 0.5L water (for bag meals) w/o boiling over
— large enough to melt snow (without constantly emptying/refilling)
— don't need a full cookset (already have larger Evernew Ti non-stick pots & smaller Ti mugs)

Also, noticed this, though smaller & heavier, but cheaper too:

And this is smaller & cheaper, but not any lighter:

I can easily boil 3 cups water in the Titan Kettle. It is a nice pan, and holds a bunch of junk inside it in the pack. On the other hand, the Evernew is nice also, I have a friend with it.
What I like about the Titan is the ability to pour water easier, the lid stays on without holding it, so pouring into bags is easy.

I own both pots and use them with an alcohol stove or my crux. I have settled on the evernew .9 but the MSR Titan is a close second.

MSR Titan.
Pro – Can fit a MSR canister perfectly.
Pro – Works better as a mug
Pro = Fits in side pockets of my pack.
Pro – Nice tight lig makes it efficent at storing cook kit.

Evernew .9
Pro – Wider base to wall ratio, allows you to fry foods.
Pro – Works well with the snow peak bowl as a double boiler.
Pro – Silicon Handels work well for moving the pot while baking. Heating the Msr to 450 and grabing with light wool gloves I feel would be unadvised.

I forgot to add:
I used the MSR Titan Kettle for when I made my UL Fauxbaker (look in the cooking section for it.). It works well for this.
The MSR Ti cup with folding handles fits in the cup perfectly as well.

Thanks, very informative & helpful replies.
Just one q:
"Heating the Msr to 450 and grabing with light wool gloves I feel would be unadvised."
— You mean heating up 450ml water or heating to 450F? (It has those little wire handles, but I guess that don't fold out as far away from the pot as the Evernew handles do?)

Yeah, I meant heating to 400-450 for dry baking. Do not try dry baking in the non stick version.

I don't think you could go wrong with either pot as both are considered standards of the backpacking world. You might also want to consider the Evernew Titanium Tea Kettle (REI #630151,) which is similar in capacity, price, quality and design to the MSR Titan–except for the rounded bulbous bottom. I use it in conjunction with the Coleman F1 Ultralight canister stove, which it matches up with well. I like the stubby little handles better than most, and the lid fits tightly, although it would be harder to make a cozy for this pot due to the rounded bottom.

The Titan lid is the selling point for me. It goes on tight and stays on tight on the stove and more importantly in your pack.

Because of this, the pot is a storage container in your pack. No need for mesh bags and you never worry about the lid slipping off.

It's sized to fit an 8-oz canister and a Crux stove perfectly with the lid still fitting — makes a nice compact package that's easy to throw into a daypack or the car for impromptu roadside/trailside tea.

The lid has spoiled me; I don't like the "sit-on" lids like the AGG pots anymore. One less thing to worry about!

I had both and like them both for different reasona. I like the Titan for the reasons Sarah stated above (the lid, etc.). But One nice feature of the Evernew that the longer, swing-out handles are insulated so you don't need to use a bandana or anything to protect your fingers when picking up the pot. Both the Titan and the Evernew have insulation on the lid lifter though. I think you'd be happy with either one.

I have the Titan but have used a friend's Evernew quite a bit. I found the wider base of the Evernew to be a benefit when using alchohol stoves with wide flame patterns. The Evernew also fits a canister more easily. The higher handles make it much easier to handle the hot pot as well. I prefer the Evernew, but folks are right- the MSR lid is a tighter fit and I had to use a rubber band with the Evernew to keep the kit together. My MSR has lasted for years and years and is so good, I saw no reason good enough to buy the new kettle.

Both are great!
