My Outsak UL has sometimes been too small to hold all of my food on longer trips or on trips with groups. I happened to have some 304 stainless steel mesh of the same gauge and knit as the mesh used for the Outsak UL. I purchased it a while ago for a high temperature insulation project from AB Technology group: http://www.firesleeveandtape.com/AB-Thermal-catalog-F-SSMF.pdf and I had some left over.
The advertised weight and capacity (volume) of the Outsak UL are 3.75 oz and 630+ cubic inches. Mine weighed 3.92 ounces on my scale and, with a thin trash bag liner I was able to fill it with 520 cubic inches (8.5 liters) of water.

I turned the Outsak UL inside out, and ripped off the 1" wide nylon webbing bottom closure. Then I cut a 10" circle out of the spare stainless steel mesh, folded over and crimped the edge, and sewed it onto the perimeter of the open end of the Outsak. I then folded a new piece of 1" nylon webbing over the sewn edge and sewed through it and the wire mesh seam four times over with heavy kevlar thread. Turned right-side-out again, this gave a circular seam hidden within the sack (only wire mesh on the outside, no nylon or thread accessible to the outside), as in the original.
The modified Outsak is now a "stand-up pouch". The modified version sits upright, weighs 4.8 oz (an increase of 0.9 oz), and has a capacity of about 900 cubic inches (14.75 liters).
