We didn't have packs on our backs, or a tent in our pack….but we did get out this weekend for as day hike, just to make sure that we hadn't forgotten how to hike. Plus, we wanted to see one of the local attractions of the Stanislaus National Forest near our new cabin: The Gargoyles trail.

Six miles off Highway 108, on Herring Creek Road, the parking area overlooks a huge volcanic cirque over the Stanislaus River.

And from there we hiked the South Rim Trail with some nice volcanic Gargoyles

And then to its end–flowers were out in force!

And then we hiked the North Rim Trail, with even better Gargoyles.

But that wasn't enough for us, so we went off trail straight up the side of the mountain to get to the top of the ridge, with the best views of all, from Bull Run Rock

Looking North towards Tahoe

It was a great day on the trail—and in the Sierra.

"If your going to do the work to put in a link, just post the photo. Just as easy. Especially if you're not going to do a active link."

If he includes the link, but not the actual photos, then he retains complete control over the images. In other words, he can take them off his web site if he chooses. If he includes the photos here, then they fall into the control of Ryan Jordan and BPL. He can keep metadata embedded in the photos at his own site, but metadata is stripped from images here.

Both good points.

But the real reason I didn't post the photos is that I don't know how. And I've asked on these boards before. I know how to post a link…I just don't know how to post the photo!

You know how to make a text reply. When you are in that screen typing your text, there is a button slightly above that says Insert Image at Cursor. That opens up a dialog where you point it to some image on your local disk directory. It isn't hard.

OK. I tried. Clicked on the button, got the pop-up screen.

Selected a photo and clicked away. Waited 30 seconds, nothing happened. Is it really that slow?

Cancelled that command, and came back to the text screen. Clicked on the image botton again. Nothing happens. I don't get the pop-up.

I'll try next week from my computer in the office.

After you chose the photo from your hard drive, you clicked 'Upload Photo", right?

I dragged the photos to my desktop and loaded them to BPL from there.

I was having no luck trying to enter the Picasa link into the dialogue box. sigh
