Well, being "forced" by Ken and Franco to look into TT Stratospire, I'm curious about it's specs. Damn you…

What's the weight of the flysheet?

What's the weight of the no-se-um-inner?

What's the weight of the partially solid inner?

Which tent has the highest ceiling (from floor to inner ceiling in the head/foot ends, when comparing the Notch and the StratoSpire?

Thanks!
/Peter

Hi Peter,

If you email Tarp tent or Franco they can get you the specs.

The Ss1 is a nice shelter, I have one with both the mesh and semi solid inner.

You can now get the SS1 Fly only* and that is listed at 20oz/567 g
All up it is listed at 33oz/936 g
The solid inner should be 2-3 oz (60-90g) heavier than the mesh.
Setting up the Notch at 45" and the SS1 at 48" (you can have them higher or lower) I get measuring at the ends of 190cm (75")
52cm from floor to inner in the Notch (a 10cm wide area at the top tapering down from there to the sides)
and 45cm at one end 35cm at the other in the SS1.
At the apex the Notch is about 102cm high (40"), the SS1 about 114cm.(45")

I happen to think that both the SS1 and 2 make a better shaped tarp than most.
Easy and fast to set up , plenty of usable space inside and when you add the inner you still have a drip free entry.

Good boy Peter. Didn't realize I was "forcing" you. If that is what it takes, well OK then. We only want you to be happy.

@Stephen – i guess Franco was pretty easy to reach here ;-)

@Ken
– i'm very happy! ;-)

@Franco
, Thank you for the specified specs, that makes comparing the SS1 to other tents much easier.

BTW, i'm going to Adelaide, Australia soon, do you (Franco)know if there's a place that has Tarptents in display or are they mainly sold online?

/Peter

Hi Peter
They are sold directly from TT USA (Nevada City)
On and off I have most models here in Melbourne but I don't sell them.

It looks like the SS1 is now listed at 36 instead of 33 oz on the TT website. Have there been any changes to the design that added weight?
