ounces of down = ?temp rating?

I just want to make sure in these last few posts nobody is frustrated with Jen for her questions. She weighed the quilt and it wasn't what she expected so she posted her question here and asked me for help. Both very reasonable and appropriate things to have done. I looked it up and after a few emails we figured it out, she didn't include the straps in her weight and after i got her both the weight of her product before we shipped it and the weight as listed on my sheets she seems very happy to have any confusion cleared up. I think this is all totally appropriate and the right way to handle a problem, just to make sure these last few posts aren't directed at her (pretty sure they aren't but want it said out loud)

As to Bob's perspective basically were talking about 2 different ways to display product weights. Both have their merits and whichever one you favor is up to you. I'm willing to consider change but i wont guarantee it.

As to his instant claim of dishonesty, I think maybe that was unnecessary and it seems that what is causing frustration. I get that, it was my first thought too, but ultimately it is what it is and i'm willing to look past it to consider his point.

Dang. That's a lot of "me too's"! :D

Ill also buy from Tim again, as he has been extremely patient with me while I learn about nylons and down and quilts and restless side sleepers… And I have been very, very impressed with his customer service.

I would also like to point out that I am using a smallish (8 inch diameter) kitchen scale to measure a rather unwieldy quilt. So I am not at all convinced my measurement is exact; I smooshed it into a stuff sack that I already knew the weight for, then subtracted the weight of the stuff sack. Seemed good, but who knows?

And to be honest, my actual question was not how to string up Tim, but whether or not this was even a significant finding. Given that the only weight I had to go by was one I entered into my spreadsheet – presumably right after I ordered it? – and I did not include any of the shock cords or anything…so again…was the weight I got today even significant??

Either way, my base weight is now 9.35 pounds so nothing you guys say can hurt me now ;)

To measure something bulky lika a quilt, hang it from a hanger and rest the hanger on the scale

You can zero (tare) the scale with the hanger on it
