Starting prepping my cornish game hen tonight, realized I had no kitchen string to tie the legs together. What's a backpacker to do?

"I've used sewing thread…."

I saw that mentioned online, but I don't have any! Sadly, I'm not a MYOGer. Also mentioned online was unwaxed, unflavored floss, which I don't have, kite string, which I don't have, and tampon string, which I don't have.

"Poultry shackles. Why not."

Game Hen du Sade. Now if that doesn't get a girl in the mood….. You invited the wrong girl. ;=]

Doug,

I am a little disappointment you did not utilize multiple use tactics by using dental floss. Dental floss would not only hold in your dressing but would add a nice minty flavor to your game hen and allow you floss after dinner!

Yeah, but what else can you do with those red mini-biners? They certainly don't work as manly zipper pulls, especially on that orange hooded rain shell, Doug. You did the right thing. The mother of all cornish game hen shackles!

Cornish game hen huh?

I'd say that was a dead bird dead bird.

Of course the UL way to truss is even lighter than floss. Pierce a hole through each side of the loose skin on the side of the opening. A slit about half an inch long. Then tuck the left ankle through the right slit and the right ankle through the left slit. Done.

"You have handcuffed a dead bird ?"

I saw it on an episode of Law and Order: Special Poultry Unit
