UGGs are the new camp shoe, this season.
Everything wrong with todays society is reflected in that video. Yikes!
synthetics like wool?
edit: reminds me of this commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buoRVFB9MKY
That was great: "synthetics" like wool, and then modeling cotton tanks, shirts & jeans. I liked the "keep your tops low" part, but I might have misunderstood it due to being distracted when I saw the 3 oz. cuben fiber UGG boots. Who knew about these?!
In fairness, I suppose, these anorexic chicks ARE like totally cute and, although they're a little confused between "camping" and "backpacking", just want you to have like a totally amazing time because if you're cute it will be like totally amazing.
Good one Eric! This is one crazy video, but it provides good insight about what you may find yourself up against when trying to outfit young women for the trail! When I suggested to my non-backpacking daughter that three cute cotton hoodys might not be the best choice for a four day trip, I could see her thinking "oh yeah? what does a silly old man know about fashion anyway?" Fortunately, for both of us, she has made progress since then.
…and remember, use waterproof breathable outer layers like PVC! …arrgh!
edited for pp punctuation.

I couldn't agree more! I watched a few minutes, and thought it was tongue and cheek humor, but I guess not…that's really scary!
And Erik B., you're too funny!
I have learned that bottom curvy is the correct way of saying fat behind .
now I just need to remember that.
Um …
Did she ever get around to discussing a tent, a quilt, a mat, a stove or, gasp FOOD?
Oh. Perhaps the male meant to carry all that?
Cheers
PS: 'sarcasm' … :-)
I watched this video and just felt embarrassed. I am fortunate, however, that I don't actually know any women like that. Alaska women are much more about function over fashion, at least the women I know are. I have noticed, as a woman, that women's outdoor gear can often lack some of the functional features that men's outdoor gear has. I often buy men's gear instead of women's gear because it is more functional.
yama girls
Eric — great video thank you. I don't understand anyone's issue with it…
Poor girl. Her writers made her look dum.
Don't wear cotton, but jeans are a must? …uhh.
Oh yeah, jeans are denim, not cotton. Silly me
They both had lanterns. lol
I guess you'd 'biner that to your pack?
Dena you are so correct. I also buy men's stuff more often than the women's. I need my hiking clothes to be functional not cute (although of course if it can be both……). And can I please say that I do not want to wear hot pink, turquoise, or other similarly awful colors in the woods. That's just not right.
I know you guys are being funny for funny's sake, but that video wasn't ever meant to be a primer for a through-hike. It was along the lines of, "your boyfriend is dragging you into the woods, so here's what to wear so you're still cute, but not miserable."
Try to remember that most young couples make whoopie on the weekends instead of nearly freezing to death while hiking 40 miles over rough terrain. It's a by-product of bathing regularly and not wearing the same smelly shirt and pants for 90 days straight.
Just sayin' ;-)
I am offended that they offer no tips for men.
I have been looking for a decent pair of pants to accentuate my backside for years (the baggy/saggy cargo look has got to go…way too 90s) and am generally dismayed by the lack of scarf offerings in patterns/colors that would flatter a man.
Can anyone help a brother out?
"I have been looking for a decent pair of pants to accentuate my backside for years"
If you want to accentuate your backside, you don't want pants, you want silicone injections…..
The same silicone I use for my seam sealing could work for that, right? Just get the large tube that goes in a caulk gun?
Maybe Uggs aren’t such a bad idea for backpacking?
They accentuate manliness, have a nice broken in look and many are perfect for the outdoors.
Case in point:
The Nigel
Ha ha! Good find, Steven. Those look perfect for camp.
I bet Ken H has those Nigels for his camp shoes! ;)
