I suffer from excruciating sacrum pain and fibromyalgia likesymptoms. forthosereasonsI sleep every night/365daysin a hammock. I recently tried backpack part of the pct, but failed due to excruciating pain. I'm looking for an alternative to a backpack so I can continue my summer vacation. Is the dixon roller the only of its kind?

"If only it was easy and practical for you have a pack animal."

Wasn't there a couple that was traveling the PCT with a small herd of goats? Every couple of hundred miles, one of the herd members would get a sudden fatal death and there would be fresh goat kabobs on the plate that night.

I've seen people doing parts of the PCT with two burros. They can't carry a heavy load like a mule can, but they are less stubborn. I don't know. Maybe you end up with burro burritos.

Goats, alpacas, mules, horses. It's doable for most of the PCT, but I can't imagine someone trying to transition to using one this late in the game. Definitely not with mules and horses, not unless a packer were hired as well.

Really sorry to hear about your illness. Would something like an Aarn backpack work, which transfers a lot of weight (depending on how you pack it) to your front instead of all on your back?

Franco,

Your last 5 posts were very thought provoking and helpful.

Thanks,

Daryl

I pride myself on posting something intelligent once a year.
Those five posts will do for 2012 and the next four.

I've seen that, and it seems to me that it happens more when the BPL server is busy doing a backup or something. If I think that it is hanging on the first post, I temporarily copy my text out to a clipboard, then close the posting window and wait for a few minutes. Sometimes my posting will appear on its own. Sometimes not.

Franco, I would much prefer to see your posting with the cat.
