I have an Monk tarp on order and I came to think about how it will work with my Bristlecone bivy. From the info and pictures on the mld site I can see the tarp has two center panel tieouts. Can these be used to suspend a bivy hood with schock cord/line? In other words, is there a loop on the "inside" as well? I think that would be useful in both a-frame and half pyramid setups.

I run a light line under the ridge line between both ends so I can hang from anywhere under the tarp. Or you can tie off to your pole at the head end.

I don't have the Monk, but I've used a number of MLD tarps/tents. All of them have had loops on the inside (underneath?) to suspend bivy hoods, etc.

I suggest you send an email to Ron and ask about your Monk specifically. I'm sure he'd be glad to add a loop or two if there aren't any there already.

I have the exact same set up. There are two mitten hooks on the inside of the tarp so when I set the Monk tarp up in a half pyramid, the bivy hood just clips into the hook. I haven't tried mine in an A frame yet so I can't help you there but I'm sure it works the same.

I did email Ron and he confirmed there will be loops inside.

Thanks for all the answers and tips! Now I just need to wait until it's my turn in MLD's order queue. Guess they have a lot to do this time of year so the queue is long..

I think I was quoted 12 weeks for my UL grace Cuben yesterday.

Should have it just in time for the fall AT hiking season.
