Hey guys,

I recently saw the video of Jason klass using his aqua Mira pro as a gravity filter in combination with chlorine dioxide tabs.

I tried to duplicate this setup but there is a problem. My camelback tube won't fit over the hole where you remove the bite nipple. I went to home depot to try and see if any of the tubing would fit. The hole where you remove the bite valve itself will take 3/4" id tubing, but that stuff weighs a ton. The smaller tubing doesn't seem like it will stay secure.

Am I missing something here?

Try soaking the tubing in really hot water first. Or just use a piece of larger size tubing as an adapter over your regular drink tube hose like an inch long. I have an old MSR bladder that has the bite valve attached that way.

I use a Frontier Pro filter in a gravity feed arrangement, but I have no idea about a Camelback tube. All of my containers are Platypus. What length of tubing are you trying to find? It seems like there is a kit for sale that has all of the necessary connectors and tubes and stuff.

Hey B.G.

Do you have a picture of your setup? What kit are you referring to?

Thanks,

It seems like I was going to put this together a few years ago, and there was a kit that included hoses and caps and things for Platypus containers and the Frontier Pro filter. I already had Platypus containers, so I bought the kit and then used just some of the pieces in order to minimize weight.

I found that I wanted a pretty good length of hose (18") between the top container and the filter. That tends to put some water pressure at the filter. But then below the filter the length is not so important, so I cut mine down to about 8" there.

The only tube that I can find that wiill fit is 1/2" dia tubing that's 3/8id. It's super heavy

How does the "platypus" hose fit?

Hi

I have done this, but cant't remember exactly how as I now use it with the bite valve. I will have a look when I get home and post a reply.

Antti,

That's pretty much what I figured out. I wish there was a way to make the tubing more secure. (Maybe a barb or clamp on to a larger size to fit over the output side?)

I like the fact that aqua mira screws into the platy bottles, (unlike other inline setups) but I just wish the output hose would take regular sized hydration tubing.

EDIT: Couldn't one use something like the platypus carbon element filter. Would it not do the same thing as the frontier pro? It's cheaper too.
