Is there a reason why no one seem to use just a rope to hang a hammock?
I've been researching a lot the past few weeks about hammocks like the hennessey and warbonnet. There are several ways of hanging them from using a whoopie slings to tree hugger straps and carabiners with rappel rings.
I ended up getting a set of tree hugger with carabiners and rappel rings like this guy on youtube => http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLsHF359g3w
After experimenting with it this evening, I find them to be unnecessary. I hung mine using a 6mm climbing rope and I loop it around the tree. Seems to perform the same. Less parts and half the weight, yet I don't see it being used. Am I missing something?
