From the pictures on the box, it looks like the Traveler model.

4 AA batteries, sized to fit commercial water bottles, suggested price $50 on the Steripen site, and 5.7oz with batteries (heavier than the Opti).

i was way too excited when i saw that too.

Unless the design has changed, they won't protect you from Cryto or Giardia. The US Army evaluated them back in 2006 and found them lacking.
But perhaps the design has changed – something I would look into before purchasing.

Only because they had a lack of data. Updated a couple of years later, the Army recommended UV as a purifier.
