Thanks Kevin, I like the smaller footprint of the notch. Its kind of a newbie question but by leaving the gear in the awning would your gear essentially get wet in the rain (run off?) I have a neo xlite air small and a 6' western mountaineering summerlite. checking if ive some room so stowe gear in this setup.

A SoloMid or a DuoMid. I ordered the Grace Solo and Serenity. It took me 3 days of thinking before choosing that setup over the SoloMid with an Innernet.

This is surprising since looking at the photos on the website the awning appears much larger than the wedge.

Nothing in the awning will get wet unless you have some highly unusual conditions. Your sleeping matt & bag will be inside with your body on it. I put my boots/pack on one side and use the opposite side as an entrance/exit. If the wind is blowing from a certain direction or if you have some blockage due to a tree/rock/log you just swap sides.

Anyway, I believe Judy is now making the solo awning larger.

The solong awning is massive.

In the solo i left stuff under the awning in storm mode just to see if it got wet during a storm…it didn't.

For cuben Judy now offers a heavier weight cuben for the awning. My solong has the heavy floor and awning for extreme durability, since it wall accompany me from April-october along the great wall.

The solo has tons of floorspace and plenty of headroom….you could fit yourself and 3 other peoples packs and still be comfortable. You can sit on an inflatable without hitting your head.

Construction is top notch, I feel very safe knowing that a female sewing professional is sewing my tent!

A color other than grey is certainly nice. The green cuben, to me, is attractive. IMO the cuben solo is one of the best looking tents. The solong is also a good looking tent.

So basically both the solo and solong are close the the same footprint but the solong has more headroom and a little wider throughout to fit two people and the solo is wider in the middle to stowe more gear on the inside. They weigh about the same. Judy emailed me that they awning for both tents is the same but id imagine it being a few inches taller because of the added inches in height. The solong 6 would be good and if i added another door itll be a great 2 person type tent (add an ounce or two for the door)

I see you can have the option for a zipper on one awning to convert it similiar to a standard, other than reducing some weight why do people not want to have the zipper on the awning?

thanks paul for the find! : ) the only thing is the tub floor is a little too low for me.

The bath tub floor is lower but the fly comes closer to the ground compared to the solo. The SMD awning leaves alot to be desired in my mind but the tent without is very nice. The Lightheart solo without awning is also very nice and I dont see much reason for an awning IMHO
