Just received a brand new Thermarest NeoAir Large today. The box states that the weight for this 25" x 77" pad is 19oz or 550g. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it weighs 17.43oz or 494g! Is this a common occurrence or did I just get lucky? Have they lightened their pads but not yet changed their info on the box? Just wondering.
Nov 4, 2011 at 5:25 am #1798462I got one of the very first larges. 17.4 oz for mine too. Enjoy some quality sleep. I like mine and have not regretted its' purchase.
Nov 4, 2011 at 6:26 am #1798473My large neoair is 16.9 oz
Nov 4, 2011 at 7:11 am #1798480my regular, medium and short were all a couple tenths under :)
Nov 4, 2011 at 8:35 am #1798506my regular came in .7 oz lighter to my liking. seems to be a standard thing with the Neo's.
Nov 4, 2011 at 8:35 am #1798508I don't personally have one… but the weight given may be with the storage sack and repair kit included. I think I read somewhere that they include those weights. I don't even actually know if the neoair comes with a repair kit and storage sack, so I'm just spit balling here.
Nov 4, 2011 at 8:55 am #1798514This might be the case if T-Rest actually gave us stuffsacks and repair kits but sadly, they're "accessories" in their realm. :-(
My standard short weighs within an ounce of spec.
Cheers,
Rick
Nov 4, 2011 at 6:42 pm #1798675Well it looks like I'm the unlucky one then. My 'small' NeoAir is 9.36oz and my two regular ones are 14.3 and 14.4.
Nov 4, 2011 at 8:12 pm #1798702Can't beat something being almost 2 oz lighter!!
Nov 5, 2011 at 11:55 am #1798839My NeoAir Trekker torso pad was also about an ounce lighter than stated. The listed weight is 450g and it weighed in at 422g.
Nov 6, 2011 at 6:29 am #1799055My regular comes in at 13.8 oz. The extra stuff sack I bought (for a few $$ on sale) is 0.5 oz and the entire repair kit weighs in at 0.6 oz. However, I just put a rubber band around my Neo. At the given weights though, if my regular ever comes to an end I may go with a large… that's great to know. Thanks for the info!
Nov 6, 2011 at 6:54 am #1799060My NeoAir large, which I got from Bean's because I STILL expect it to go back, weighs 14.9oz, 4222g. Maybe Bean's won't get it back!
Nov 6, 2011 at 7:25 am #1799066I am with Dan, my regular was 14.2 oz as well. I dumped it for an Exped Synmat UL7, however.

Nov 6, 2011 at 9:58 am #1799092When I owned the regular sized neoair, mine weighed 14.1oz
Nov 6, 2011 at 11:11 am #1799111Some serious quality issues @ Cascade Designs!!
Nov 6, 2011 at 11:55 am #1799122….or some serious scale issues amongst BPL'ers.
Nov 6, 2011 at 1:21 pm #1799144It seems like CD is getting the weights a lot closer than POE does… Just saying…
Nov 6, 2011 at 6:10 pm #1799223Small: 9.3oz (purchased during the first year they were available)
large: 18.3oz (purchased spring 2011)edit: I weighed each pad on two different scales … they agreed with each other
Nov 6, 2011 at 7:08 pm #17992362009-ish leaky Regular NeoAir returned to Cascade Designs: 13.2oz
New 2011 Regular NeoAir replacement from Cascade Designs: 13.2oz
Nov 6, 2011 at 8:08 pm #1799248It is interesting that there is such a wide variance in weights. People on here are very attuned to the grams on their equipment, but I had never seen anyone bring up the fact that many of the NeoAirs are actually well underweight!
Nov 6, 2011 at 8:52 pm #1799256I think nobody brings it up because people around here never believe the manufactures given weights. Have to weigh it for ourselves. Cool that they are under spec, until you think it was a marketing ploy from the get go.
