I saw that site, but it seemed lacking on info. Doesn't say where you can overnight camp. Maybe I will try and call in.

Not yet. I have been on a lot of trips lately, but not to Jackson. It's on my list of places to check out, between boggs mountain and cache creek. All 3 of those places are 1-2 hours away.

I grew up near there. I haven't heard anything specific in the past few years, but it's the one piece of land I know on the Mendocino coast where some (many?) locals are actually afraid to hike because of the perceived risk of running in to marijuana grow patches and possibly armed/violent attendants.

So just like home then.

We are looking for something close to the Bay Area, with no advance reservation needed (like Point Reyes).

I have not heard of anyone yet. Very little online about it.

I completely forgot about this place. I might head up there and check it out some time in the future.

So did anyone explore this area? I'd be interested in a long weekend. Sounds like it may be better to be in a group rather than solo if the growers are nearby. The trail map is pretty squiggly!
