I really was looking forward in using the Peak Elite AC but now reading that the parent company looks as if their dropping the line I just dont want to take a chance on it. I'll be returning mine and will hold out for the NeoAir Xlite.

I almost bought one of these! I'm sure glad I decided to spend the $$$ for a KookaBay custom insulated air pad instead! Even with the time needed for Bender to build the pad, I received it before the much delayed Peak AC ever reached the retail stores.
I still have POE's old InsulMat Max Thermo, which I bought on closeout in late 2006. I never had any problems with it. I would still be using it for backpacking if it didn't weigh 17 oz. (My KookaBay pad is 12.9 oz. and both thicker and warmer.) I still use the IMMT as a mattress pad at home when my arthritis starts acting up.
Anyone have a contact at POE? I've tried emailing them about returning it but have not received a response back.
thanks!
sorry to hear about your problems konrad. when I received my POE Elite AC half a year ago, i could tell there wasn't much insulation. it was too thin and not nearly as warm as my ridgerest pad. but i live in hawaii, so no problems with cold.
no problems with leaking or insulation delamination, although it is black so i wouldn't be able to see it anyway. i fold it rather than roll so maybe that helps also.
tonite i read thru this thread and the earlier one dealing with Greg. it felt like the situation was a bit similar to this (the avenger controller), which happened just a few days ago.

i don't think Greg was as bad Christoforo, but some things could have been better. i don't know who (if anyone) is at fault here, but i do hope POE is really making an effort to provide good customer service.
i hate to say it … but you dont need to worry about it with cascade designs … especially if you buy it from REI
yes, so we should never try new products by companies purely based on the fact that they could be flawed…
its the risk you take … of course trying new products from a retailer or manufacturer with a known solid warranty process like REI/MEC/EB/OR and many others is quite advisable IMO
ive never quite seem this kind of issue with gear that PO seems to have, i believe there have been threads about issues with their pads for a while …
I don't recall threads about other POE pads, just this particular model.
i was using pads as this particular pad … since the summer anyways … i believe there were also a few blog reviews listing service issues
here is the gold standard for taking care of yr customers … and why i give certain companies my business
