Ultralight Watches- any suggestions? Deuce watch?

My g-shock died this summer, so I basically use a cheap watch that looks like it came from the same mold as yours. $5 from 7 eleven.

Ultra light weight, the band glows in the dark, it's water-resistant (I don't know about water proof), and it keeps time.

Biggest problem I have with it, is it doesn't have a back light to see the screen in the dark.

When it dies, I'll probably buy another one.

"Deuce" watch….. I read that differently the first time around, am I the only one? Good for a laugh. I usually just read a book and avoid keeping time but that's just me. ;-p

I like the barely there design of that thing, my sister picked up a knockoff Deuce watch somewhere for much less, can't remember where though, probably a mega store.

I don't wear a watch, not even as a runner, hate the things like you, they make my wrist stink like rotten casts from when I was a kid with broken bones. If I was going to get a watch I'd go big pappa style and either get a fatty Suunto and look like a deep sea diver or go minimal and get something like that Deuce watch, just can't justify the price on either of them as I'm broke, both of them are too expensive for what you get IMO.

I use a cheap digital with alarm, date/time, and stop watch. Removed the band and carry it in my pocket. Weighs 0.7 oz.

I'm also kind of a sucker for minimalist design, but the deuce looks a little trendy for my tastes. AND they don't list weight on the website…

I took a cheap Timex watch with the Indiglo feature (which makes it really easy to read at night); cut off the band, sewed on a grosgrain watch fob, and hang it from my belt loops with a small Niteize S-biner.

Weighs very little, keeps it off my wrist, but is still very easy to get to. At night I clip it to my hammock's ridgeline.

This has been my go to watch for along time. Simple, reliable, tough and cheap. Get one on Campmor for under $40.00. 1.1oz

I like a little more functionality in my hiking watch. I look for:

– Time
– Alarm
– Compass
– Altimeter

On most trips I don't need a serious compass, so I can save weight and increase simplicity by having it incorporated into my watch. The altimeter is a must because it's essential for off-trail navigation and even on trail it's really nice for figuring out where you are, and how much of that climb you've cranked off.

I use a Casio Pathfinder PAW1300. This is their 'slim' pathfinder watch so it's thinner and lighter. The other huge plus is that it's solar powered, so I never have to worry about the battery dying out there. It's also cool that it sync's the clock with the atomic clock in New York every day. This is about 2.1oz and about $150 on eBay.

Are you sure that it is in New York?

More typically, the clock or watch will sync with an atomic clock in Colorado, especially if you are closer to Colorado, and it doesn't happen during the day. Typically it happens during the wee hours of the night.

You're right Bob that it's more likely to be syncing with Colorado.

When I said it sync's every day, I'm meaning it sync's daily (as opposed to weekly etc)….not that it sync's during the day light hours. It tries to sync at midnight and if it can't then it tries again hourly until it works, or it gives up around 5am. Up here in the arctic circle it doesn't work, but it works about 80-90% of the time on the west coast. So about 10-20% of the time my watch might be out by a milli-second.

i have a timex ironman "sleek" that i got at target for $6. it was on clearance or something. anyhow it is very light and the wristband is all open and airy. i really like it. it doesn't much feel like i'm wearing a watch.

Is there a clock on your camera? Mine has the best alarm feature too. Will actually wake me up.

I carry a small Garmin 401 and it has a time/date feature in it, so if I really need to know the time I just fire it up- 2.4 oz w/o the wrist strap- of course I get UTMs, altimeter, etc w/ it as well
