You can buy them singly in Chinese shops or on the Chinese internet. I took delivery of one yesterday.

I found this forum thread while searching for information on its availability in the West. The stock version gets pretty hot and takes quite a long time to cool down (compared to another Fire Maple stove, the FMS-100T, that I used all winter). Less mass, slower to conduct heat away – pure speculation on my part, but there may be a reason why they're not making a stripped down ti version…

Looks like they made it from stainless and brass, both of which conduct heat pretty well so I'm not surprised that it gets hot. Brass is heavy too, didn't someone say it weighed 150g? I really don't know what they were thinking of when they came up with this one, it's almost as bad as the Primus Spider. Titanium is the material to use not because it is light but because it has a much lower thermal conductivity. The sad thing is that they could easily have done so much better, this uses their titanium burner from the Gnat:

The FMS-118 comes apart easily, hand tight, but most of the weight is in the brass base, preheating tube, braided hose and cannister attachment. The leg tripod assembly slides off in one piece when you take off the burner head. Cost in China is less than 200Y if you look around (the FMS-117T is typically a little more than 200Y).
Anyway, that's me.
Hi,
Why it's so important that the stove gets hot? Thank you.

Thanks mate, you’re so cool
Hi guys,
I wrote a review for fms-118 here: http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/reviews/display_reviews?forum_thread_id=64593&cat=Stoves%20%2D%20Canister&cid=19
Don't kill me if it's not that good, and sorry for my bad English :)
BTW, There is a guy who did "FMS-118T", just as I thought here: http://tracksterman.tumblr.com/
depending on how long your trip is, it may be best to go for a whisperlight. That way you can burn white-gas from a small, refillable aluminum bottle and extra gas can be taken in a light plastic bottle?
