I have some jockey boxer briefs that I know I paid no more than 10 bucks for that weigh somewhere around 2.5 oz.

That being said, the underwear I prefer wearing while hiking were free and weigh nothing, much much more comfortable.

Running shorts.

They're light, breath well, dry quickly, serve both as "underwear" if they have a liner brief inside, as well as outwear for mild weather use- excellent multipurpose clothing item.

If you insist on a pair of lightweight boxers coupled with your favorite pants or shorts, check out the Pata Capilene 1 boxer briefs.

That depends on the boxing association: Paperweight or Mini Paperweight. 80 pounds (40.6kg).

If you mean underwear, check out Ex Officio :)

Ex Officio Boxer Briefs, size medium, weigh 85g on my scale, which is 3oz. They feel very light… those sub-2oz onces must be UL indeed.

+1 running shorts

Those with a pair of softshell pants have me covered from about 40 degrees to 80 degrees (which happens out here).

I hear a lot about running shorts with liners, but can anyone recommend specific shorts?

+1 Any recommendations on a brand that has larger leg openings in the briefs. This has been my biggest problem with the built in brief feature, thigh strangulation.

I have a really old pair I usually bring along on multi-day trips. They are so old I cant even read the tag to see what the name on them is. On my scale they weigh 1.8oz, pretty light. I must have just got lucky one time buying boxers at walmart and bought a certain kind that were really light.

i rock the exofficio ones. They seem to be great for lightness, comfort and dryability.

Great ideas here. Thanks everyone. I might end up ditching the boxers and just freeball it.
