I have been looking for a really lightweight summit pack to take on the John Muir Trail this summer and I found Gossamer Gear's RikSak. I just received it in the mail last night and I think it's perfect.
It weighs 2.2oz verified on my digital postal scale and it seems to be really well made. At 900 cu in, it's the perfect size to carry water. snacks and some extra layers on a side trip.
The shoulder straps are 3 inches wide with a thin padding inside. They are really nicely sewed onto the body of the pack so it will be relatively durable. the bottom end of the straps are attached to the body of the pack with a 3/4 inch nylon strap with an adjustable buckle.
