This was a great thread. I looked back on all the trips from this year and was surprised by how many I ended up taking. Here are a few highlights from the year. Hopefully with my 2011 PCT thruhike I will able to few good memories next year as well.

I’ll remember 2010 as the year I met the legendary JMT hiker, Reinhold Metzger on the JMT. We talked for about 15 minutes. Just an amazing man. Does anyone know his email address? I owe him a photograph of the lady I was with. Him and her took a photograph together, he asked for it.

Reinhold Metzger

Here is a great story on Reinhold. Link

In 2010, I met again, Bruce Lauren (now age 84) on the JMT, whom I met 2 years ago also on the JMT. Each time, he was with his son, Lee, and a friend (age 70 now), named Vern. This is Bruce in 2010 on the JMT. He spent 8 days on the trail this year. He does section hiking. Lives near the high sierras and spents lots of time out there. Fantastic guy.

Bruce Lauren

If anyone knows Bruce and knows his email address, please provide it. I want to send him photos too.

Roleigh:

We ran into Bruce and his party atop Mather Pass on aug 12 of last year. They were going south. Bruce wasn't even breathing hard when he arrived. What a guy!

Thanks for the link to an article about Reinhold. What a guy! I can relate to his bit on determination.

Note the two different boots on Reinhold in the photo. He was beta testing two models before venturing on a JMT Yo-Yo record breaking attempt — I don't know how he did, he planned to do a JMT Yo_yo (both directions, 442 miles long) in 14 days. He's one month short of age 70 in this photo. Most amazing trail runner I've heard of.

Might have been late July, but pretty sure it was early August

If it was him, I think he said he usually went with his son but was going solo that particuar trip
