I’d like to try the golite lair 1 out but do not
carry hiking poles. Anybody know good sources
for titanium poles that would work in place of hiking poles?
Thanx ahead of time.

Titanium is heavy for poles…
try:
titaniumgoat.com
gossamergear.com
mountainlaureldesigns.com
outdoor wilderness fabrics pole replacement kit
etc
Hi Dan-
That’s correct. Titanium is rarely used in poles because aluminum is stiffer for the weight. That said, if you’re using trekking poles for support, it’s hard to beat the stiffness to weight of many of the carbon fiber poles on the market.
In aftermarket tent poles, you have two options: Fibraplex and Easton.
Fibraplex: I just completed a review of those and found that they were nearly as stiff as aluminum poles with significant weight reductions. They’re expensive but if you treat them well (make sure the sleeves are fully inserted), they should last you for a long time. I took mine up Rainier and even in high winds, had no issues.
Easton: These carbon/aluminum poles are BOMBER, but heavier too. While lightwave has a strength that’s similar to aluminum poles, the Easton FX poles are much stronger than most anything available in aluminum.
DAC Featherlite and Easton are two good aluminum options.
Best of luck!
