I'm of two minds on this. PNW ice storms in East County and up the Gorge are pretty unique and usually a disaster. The Temps drop and the rain continues until tree limbs snap big time . 70 year old trees can go down in a night. The roads turn into toboggan chutes. Your 2 or 4 wheel drive car or truck without studs or chains can slip sideways or backwards on a slight incline. I've worked in the typical PNW winter outside for the last 15 years. What did we wear all day long? Helly Hansen PVC bib and jacket , and rubber boots. You stay dry in these.Same as on a boat, Would I ever hike in these? Maybe. If I was hitting the Eagle Creek trail or something similar for a day or 2 maybe yes. Sounds crazy , but all Goretex and Event, Nylon, Montbell are going to fail and wetout at some point. I remember coming out of Hole in the Wall at Waterton Glacier 10-12 miles downhill in full Goretex as it was 15 years ago. Totally soaked. Only plus side Vasque Sundowners with Goretex lining great . Contrary to all current BPL theory. So just my take . Running a new Mont-Bell shell will report as we move into a La Nina soaker here in Portland
