How about a hint as to what sort of gear you are designing? I'm guessing the first product is fishing related? Maybe a little fishing bag?

now that Jason isn't making mug lids anymore (or is he???), would be nice for someone to take over that niche

I made the orginal SP lids for Jason . I made a 600 lid as a gift for Jason for a reveiw he did on my stoves.
He felt there was a need in the camping so worked together. I made 'em he sold'em. I still have those avaible. Also good luck "TrailLite Designs"

The first TrailLite Designs product is the Ebira (ey-beer-ah) aka: RodQuiver.

The Ebira when used in its most basic form, without the attachable carry cord and pocket, is a simple protective sleeve for a tenkara rod. The tough dyneema x sleeve will protect a users rod when being carried in a pack or when attached to a pack.

The Ebira will be offered in two lengths, a longer length which will accomadate all current tenkara rods and also a shorter Hane specific length. A limited number of Hane specific Ebiras will be available with each production run.

The Ebira will come complete with an attachable carry cord and clip on pocket. The pocket can be attached to either side of the Ebira allowing for a typical left shoulder carry, or if prefered a right shoulder carry.

With the carry cord and pocket attached the Ebira becomes a true rod quiver. The carry cord is adjustable in length and is 2mm spectra cord which is both light and strong. The pocket is sized to accomadate a complete UL fly fishing kit and can also be attached to most pack shoulder straps.

When used in a typical left shoulder carry the pocket rides on the right hip and is easily accessable while wearing the Ebira.

Weight is 1.8 oz for the longer 22.5" Ebira and slightly less for the 18.5" Hane version.

My expectations regarding quality far exceed my own sewing ability, such is the reason that all TrailLite Design projects will be outsourced. I'm very pleased with the quality of both materials and workmanship reflected in making the Ebira.

I'm a total micro-cottage junkie- especially of those items that appear first in these forums. Case in point of what's in my collection:

– first run Steven Evans (pre Suluk 46) carbon fiber ice axe
– first gen Mountain Laurel Designs day pack (back when Ron only had a few items on eBay and no web site)
– new Mountainfitter CF3 cuben drybags- great products
– BMW Tenkara Hane pole (this thing is beautiful- I don't really fish, but I plan to learn!)
– in line for the first Montgomery kettles. Can't wait…
– custom Tim Marshall bags for my kids- too cool. And before Tim became enLIGHTened. :-)

I've always liked small companies like Integral Designs, Golite, and Montbell. I really love the innovations from Tarptent, Six Moon Designs, and Mountain Laurel Designs (among others). But there is something SO cool about the creativity and exclusivity of the micro-cottage companies and their limited runs of really cool items. I cherish these items and love using them.

Thanks Steven, Ron, Joe, Kevin, Lawson, Ryan, Tim, Thom, and others- you've added so much fun to my outdoor experiences and my outdoor collection! Thanks also to Henry, Ron, Brian, Kim and Coup, and others for taking micro-cottage and building your successes into broader product ranges. And of course, thank you Ray too!

Now, I guess it's time to step up to a FlyWeight Designs packraft. I don't packraft, but I guess it's time to learn!

Congratulations are in order to you Thom! This is exciting to see new gear ideas and concepts being brought to the growing UL table. It's very cool of you to put yourself and your hard work out there. I'm anticipating more updates and innovative gear ideas as they come to completion. Website? Please! :)

The Ebira rod quiver interests me on 2 levels: one the modular concept is excellent, I like the idea of integrating the Ebira rod quiver to be used as an accessory to a users preferred pack, as well as it's ability to "break away" from a pack and function on its own while out fishing. The streamlined aesthetic and practicality of the Ebira should hopefully compliment the UL Tenkara using backpacker, the Ebira design looks great as does the craftsmanship and materials. I wouldn't expect anything less considering your savvy taste for smart design and quality gear.

If your burgeoning 2nd design concept takes notes from your current Ebira offering then we're all in for a nice treat. Cheers Thom.
