Thanks to all that responded to my question(s) regarding the Golite Lair. Having done further research (isn’t that half the fun / frustration of the gear purchasing process?), I am leaning toward the Mountain Laurel Design Grace tarps. Has anyone had experience in the field with these tarps? Pros, cons? Thanks in advance,

-Dave

There is a good review on this site for MLD Grace Poncho tarp. It might give you an idea of how the other grace tarps are.
Can’t wait for mine 5 more weeks…

Hi- I can’t comment directly on the tarps but I know it reviewed very well. I can comment on the overall quality of Ron Bell’s designs- I have two packs and his craftsmanship is wonderful. Excellent stuff.

I am also waiting on a Grace Pro Poncho. Hopefully it will arrive before August and my planned trip to the Overlord trail in Nunavut.

I’ve got the Prophet 30 and the workmanship is top notch.

Well, I e-mailed MLD twice regarding an order but have yet to hear back. Is this expected with MLD?

Well they were in the middle of moving from Maine to Virginia, might be the problem. Dunno.

I spoke with Ron a few times recently. My impression is that the move to Virginia is complete. In my experience so far his customer service ethic goes way beyond the cottage-shop norm. Give him a ring instead — I’ve had no problems getting him by phone after 4pm EST, and he’s always been super helpful.
