What brand of water bottle cap fits a platypus bladder? I bought a new 3L and I want to use my old 2L as lightweight water storage. No sport/ drinking caps need apply.

Thanks

Any regular bottled water cap should fit. My Nalgene flask cap fits too. So does the cap off a cheap plastic flask of vodka that I found in the park.

I've found that many supermarket bottle caps will fit — more or less. But for the very best fit, it's still the Platypus caps themselves. You can buy just the caps — regular screw on as well as "push-pull" screw on for just a few dollars.

Caps from Nalgene 1oz and 2oz wide mouth polyethylene bottles fit and seal properly on Platypus water bottles.

1 oz on sale at The Container Store for $.59! Also available at REI.

I tried caps from supermarket water bottles and soda bottles — be careful! Soda bottle caps have grooves inside the threads, which allows a Platypus to leak inside your tent overnight and get everything wet. (Ask me how I know this….)

Same here. Lost most of the original platypus caps and have looked for substitutes. Some work and some don't. This weekend placed 2 – 2 liter platypus bottles in the tent to keep the floor from blowing around. Both leaked for a total of over 1 liter water loose in the bathtub floor. These were caps that I thought were working.

Platypus does not make much profit on selling the water bottles. They make their profit on selling replacement caps for them. I always manage to lose my Platypus bottle with the cap still on it.

I have played around with caps from 1L bottles of "vintage" seltzer. They seemed to work however I don't have any experience with them in the field.
