While car camping last week, I got a large "T" shaped rip in the rainfly of my tent. One leg of the rip is about 10" long and the other leg is about 6" long. When I took down the tent, there was a muddy deer hoof print on the sidewall of the tent!
Does anyone have any experience in repairing a rips in a rain fly? Maybe this is just another one of the 1000 uses for duct tape.
Thanks for your help. Bill

It depends on the fabric. For non-sil nylon, I'd back the rip with Mcnett fabric tape, then run a bead of aquaseal over the outside. Stitching a small round patch over the start of the tear might be in order to maintain strength.
Silnylon would require silsealer.
I have been told that they are really good at repairs in outdoor stuff. I know that a lot of major retail companies use them for warranty repair.

I've used Rainy Pass many times through the years and always had great results. Highly recommended!
Thanks for the input. I too have used Rainy Pass and liked the quality of their work. I think I'm going to give David's advice a try. This isn't my #1 tent and I think that the tape would work well on the tears as they are straight lines with no jagged edges.
