Wow! same weight as my Sigg bike bottle that has a more useful lid. But if you have to have Ti. and have more money than you know what to do with…. Cracks me up that the description states that it does not react to human fluids. What are people gonna put in there?

Ti pee bottle?

Ti chewing tobacco spit bottle?

Ti emergency blood donation bottle?

I would consider that price if it had a wide mouth and Ti cap. Then I could just hang it over a fire to boil water

Explosion anyone? Unless you had a way to vent the steam….

Travis – you keep your sciense and common sense out of this conversation!

Woops, sorry! Um, add large quantities of gasoline to the fire? Is that better?

Disclaimer: I do not advocate placing sealed bottles full of fluid over a fire that is doused in gasoline.

I believe the primary benefit of a titanium water bottle is that it can serve as a boiling vessel and is lighter than stainless. As aluded to above, you don't want to use the screw cap when boiling, so the material need not be titanium. Add a simple bail made from a stainless fishing leader. If you want, a "boiling" lid can be fashioned out of a small, flat metal (okay, titanium!) disc with slots in it for the bail.

Here is an alternate bail method:

Rigid Bail

By the way, the REI TiWare Mug should nest nicely over the bottle, too.

I thought it was quite obvious that the cap is not screwed onto the bottle but rather, nested on top. Then again, common sense is lacking nowadays. Many of the bushcraft guys use the guyot designs bottle w/ bail wire to boil water.
