I looked around this afternoon for snack-size zip lock bags that are oriented the opposite way from the bags available everywhere. In other words, the zip lock is at the short end of the rectangular bag.

Anybody know if something like that is available?

Try going to a grocery store that has a good bulk section—they often have smaller bags like that for candy, etc.

Lots of different size ziplock bags can be found in craft stores (Michael's, Craft Warehouse, etc.), generally close to the beads section. They range from teeny tiny to sandwich size, and they do have the "zip" on the short side. Slightly heavier plastic than sandwich or snack bags, too.

REI sells two sizes that I know of. The larger one is a bit smaller than the garden variety snack bag, but reasonably close. Also heavier duty.

While not exactly what you are looking for, if you are in need of some really tiny zip lock bags (about 2 x 3 inches) you can find them at your local pharmacy. Used for pills and medication. usually sold in pack of 25 to 100. I use them all the time for condiments and spices on the trail.

Man……I was just at Michael's earlier today……I made some dominoes out of balsa wood.

Hey……it's raining like crazy here.

"I made some dominoes out of balsa wood"

I'm laughing, but that's actually a great idea!

"Brian. Ours come like that here also!"

I see you are from Cali…ahh, the land of fruits and nuts…and lots of glaucoma prescriptions.
