I used some of that reflective bubble wrap stuff everyone uses for cozies to make a thick pouch thing. I took a 3 oz piece of dry ice, wrapped it in paper and then put it in a sandwich baggie (not totally sealed). It has kept 6 popsicles basically frozen for 32 hrs so far. The dry ice is almost gone now

I think it would be best with things that just need to be refrigerated.

Another idea would be some sort of container with a absorptive fabric shell. You could get it wet and the evaporating water would cool what's inside.

A friend showed up with some dry ice for our beer on a summer trip.
Having never used dry ice, though I am VERY well acquainted with beer, it sounded like a good idea. I had a simple closed cell pouch as a cooler, wrapped the dry ice in a rag, and packed 6 pint cans on top of it…

…only to discover that 60% of my beer was frozen upon arrival in camp, two cans having exploded and leaked all over my pack.

I was fully prepared to make up for my losses out of his beer (since it was his "great" idea), but alas, his suffered the same fate.

It was a thirsty summer afternoon and I gave it my best try.

But frozen beer slush…no, not so good.

Beware.

Remember not to handle with bare hands. And doesn't your pack emit fog?

I wish my pack emitted fog… sometimes my brain does.

Dry Ice really isn't scary, just don't grab it and hold on.

I'm sorry your beer got frozen…Was there any dry ice left when you got to camp?

BTW I find that the move is to bring a beer like Old Speckled Hen, which is delicious at slightly below room temp.
