"I hate catclaw."

Me too. Any the side pocket of my GG Murmur hates it even more!!

But I hate jumping Cholla even more. It was bad enough when I used leather boots, but with trail runners it can be a real bummer.

I just watched a video on youtube about some guy trying to dislodge a jumping cholla segment from his leg with one hand, while filming it with the other. It was my observation that he should have put down the camera to try to do that!

I'm unfortunately going to have to take back my promise to "scout" the sups for you. I won't be able to get out of town until after graduation (Dec. 17th). I know this doesn't do you any good but I hope you have a great experience and you've been given a lot of good information in this thread so I'm sure you'll have a great time.

That pesky cat claw, it gets my arms and shins pretty good while riding. The worst was when I fell into a bunch of it once! Had to be very careful extracting myself.

Of course it was far worse to kick some other cactus (while riding) and have it go straight thru my shoe and big toe nail. Oh man pulling that one out wasn't fun, haha. AZ is beautiful though and worth the spikey things ;)

Brady,
Thanks anyways though. Congratulations on graduation!

My first experience of "catclaw". I had encountered Devil's Club, but Catclaw has it beat as far as pure damage to the hide. I took to carrying two sticks to open a passage through the catclaw, or the damage would be a lot worse! Note to self: avoid cross-country treks in the Supes, or wear Kevlar pants.
