Personally, I have no problem with them increasing the price to adjust for costs and miscalculations and it sounds like this was perfectly justified. In my years as a small business owner in the services industry, we tend to have somewhat of a formula and then add a fudge factor based on client and conditions. A bit more complicated, but realize that there are many factors in setting a price for a product. And yes it is more competitively priced at the current price which is great for ULA.

I just wished I would have bought mine before the price hike!! ;-)

I got a UlA circuit 2008 6 months ago. I was overloading it, but the back collapsed under load. It does this because the inverted U hoop back support does not transfer the load to the hip belt. The hip belt supports the middle of the bottom of the pack whilst the hoop leads the load to the bottom corners. I made 2 stay anchor points 100mm apart in the middle ( near the velcro patch that transfers the load to the hip belt) The inverted U fits in these with its ends pulled in. The pack no longer collapses. I did message Brian but got no reply. I find I no longer need the stiffening foam pad.

Um, how did I miss ULA being sold? Any explanation on the reasons for the sale?

Good luck Chris and Sally – I hope the best for you two and the future of ULA.

First, good luck to the new owners!!
Second, I'd love an Ohm in small as the medium fit on ULA packs is usually too big for me.
I can wait until next spring, though.
cheers,
fred

My apologies for temporarily hijacking the thread

Derek, would you care to share some pics of your mod either in the MYOG section, or the reader tips? Im really curious to see what you did…it sounds like a great mod. Also, how much weight, did u load before it collapsed?

So the Ohm now costs the same as the Circuit comparably equipped? One is good value. One is exceptional.
