"One interesting spec was the sizing. It says Regular is 6' and long is 6' 6" when typically we received the same sizing as their Japanese Bags which were normally 5' 10" for reg and 6' for long. Looks like these are modified for the U.S. market."

i made a mistake in this post. It should read

"typically we received the same sizing as their Japanese Bags which were normally 5' 10" for reg and 6'4 for long

Montbell u.l. super spiral bags in stock now. Let me know if you have any questions now that they are physically present.

I have a UL Down Hugger No. 3 "regular" — and that fits up to 5'10". I am 5'9" and I can feel the bottom by pointing my toes a bit. And thus, I think MontBell's 5'10" stated limit is accurate. I haven't seen the new spiral bags yet, but they have the same 5'10" spec.

Correction. The New Super Spiral Bags are not the same as the u.l. spiral down from 2009. they are all 6 ft for regular and 6ft 6in for the long. I can confirm that they have updated the lengths for these bags for 2010. The U.L. Spiral Down Hugger from 2009 remains 5' 10" for reg and 6' 6" for long.

so, the following New bags have increased length for 2010 to 6' and 6' 6" respectively:
U.L. Super Spiral Down hugger
Super Spiral Down Hugger
Super Spiral Burrow

Does the #3 have the neck collar ?

Also, is the fill per baffle any more consistant or full than it used to be ? (ie: some users commented that some MBs looked underfilled in some baffles last year).

So which one to get? What's the difference between Super Spiral − Down 800 and Spiral − Down 800?

Maybe I should have bought mine earlier this year. :-/

the super spiral have the elastic stretch built into the baffles allowing up to 75" of girth at the shoulder. The spiral down 800 (non super) does not have the elastic stretch built into the baffles and stretches to 68".

The spiral down hugger weighs a few ounces less than the super spiral bags.

no neck collar on the #3.

The bag I checked did not noticeably display any pockets of insufficient fill. I have an 800 fill 2009 bag and it was noticeably more filled than a previous 750 fill 2007 bag; both super stretch #2. In my opinion, they have gotten better.

I'm selecting my first down bag (replacing a 20F synthetic). It will have to function into some pretty warm temperatures so I'm concerned about zipper length. An earlier post on this thread indicates that all MB bags zip to the bottom, but another thread states that this bag's zipper stops at the knee, and the photo here
http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/mb_down_hugger.html
certainly looks that way. Is this still the case, or does the zipper now run to the bottom?
